GCSE Maths: Probability
Probability is one of the most predictable topics on the paper. Almost every question fits one of four templates — tree diagram, Venn diagram, two-way table or sample space — so memorising the templates pays off fast.
Foundation probability covers writing probabilities as fractions/decimals/percentages, listing outcomes systematically, the AND rule (multiply for independent events), the OR rule (add for mutually exclusive events) and using the fact that probabilities sum to 1. Conditional probability formally introduces P(A given B) = P(A and B) / P(B). It can be approached using Venn diagrams or two-way tables; pick whichever the question naturally fits.
